My name is Jenny Birdsong. I created Ash and Crow in the middle of 2020. For several years before, I have been creating herbal salves and remedies for myself and family. My first products I made were bath salts that I crafted for friends in high school, experimenting with different scents of essential oils that I purchased from the small, hidden, witchy shop in town. This was when my interest in herbalism, astrology, divination, and magic truly began to bloom.

In college, while I was still very interested in these subjects, my studying took a back seat to my other passion, which is art. I was able to still incorporate my love of magic and divination into my work that I created, but my time was spent most on painting and drawing and less on creating herbal remedies.

Most of the jobs that I’ve had since college have been art based; working as a studio assistant for a well-known painter, mural and faux-finish painting, working in art supply stores, working as a florist, and most recently, working in the props department for movies and television shows, both on set as well as doing art-related side projects for these productions.

It’s only been that last couple of years that I have been able to dive deeply back into herbalism and studying the craft. After leaving the film industry full time, only working from home on projects for several productions, I have been home with my two sons, and have been able to start creating again. Working with herbs has been very therapeutic for me, allowing me a bit of a reprieve from some of the stresses of everyday life and raising two children.

In the summer of 2020, my herbal journey fully took off when I was invited to participate in a weekly farmers market with a friend of mine. She was selling herbal remedies of her own, with a large focus on mushrooms, and asked me to create some products to have in her booth with her. After that, my research deepened and I began creating more magical products to showcase at the market. I participated in the farmers market until the end of 2020, and that was when I knew it was time to move online and to other markets and festivals. I began with a humble Facebook and Instagram page and began this website.
 
I am currently enrolled in several programs for herbalism to expand my knowledge and skills in order to bring more beautiful and healing products into life, so stay tuned for new products in the future! I plan to expand our line of magical herbal products, as well as add a line of intention and ritual candles, jewelry, and art. I look forward to this journey and it is my hope that you will join me in bringing a little more magic into our lives.
